A delightful circa 1842 Greek revival home reassembled and brought to 21st century standards with over 2000 square feet of  finished living space. Originally situated in Newcastle Ontario, the house was dismantled and shipped to the present site in 1981. The new foundation is built of local stone and all structural members were checked, replaced and repaired. The moulded doorcase with sidelights, original trim, interior doors, 6 over 6 sash windows and pine floors were all restored.  The shiplap siding and white cedar shingles indigenous to Ontario were replaced and dormer windows were added to the second floor. Storage drawers have been cleverly built-in beneath the middle dormer on the upper landing. The cozy lower level family room with additional wood burning fireplace,  wall of built-in shelves and fabulous stone floors open to a shaded porch. A side room now accomodating a whirlpool tub could become a third bedroom as it also adjoins a 4 pc bathroom. This is a thoroughly modern home although the ‘bones’ are from 1842. Latterly a front wrought iron fence, new central air system, new furnace, new hot water heater, new stove, dishwasher, washer and dryer have been installed. The single garage has an automatic door. The home is situated on a pleasant quiet street elevated above a lower dock and marina area and only a 5 minute walk to the main street, Shaw Festival, hotels and fine dining.
